New apartment, new schedules

A lot has happened since I last blogged.  The boys started school, called "la rentree" here.  Caleb is going to an international school just outside the city and Elias is going to a bilingual school in a different part of the city.  We also got into our new apartment this weekend.

Caleb seems to really enjoy his new school, it helps that everything is in English.  Caleb is also pretty outgoing and makes friends very easily.  Because of the time of year we arrived in Paris, I had to do all the applications from Colombia.  So, he got accepted to a school I had never seen.  I think I like the school too, but so far things with the school have been a bit more unorganized than I would like.  This week there is a back to school night, so I'm hoping that I will get a better sense of his teachers and school then.  The culture here is not as warm and fuzzy as Colombia, it's an adjustment for sure!

Elias also seems to be adjusting well to his new school.  He is in full day now, 9-3 with a half day on Wednesdays.  He has 2 English speaking teachers and 1 French teacher.  They all seem very loving and warm.  But he tends to ignore the French teacher, haha!  I'm not sure if he's made an friends yet, but he has talked about building a castle with another girl a few times, so I'm hopeful!

Ollie is still with me.  The French public schools here are free starting at 3 years old, but you can pay a small fee and go to a public preschool type of school I think starting at a few months old.  I checked to see if he could go a couple half days a week, but since he will turn 3 in December, they said he would have to go full day 8:30-4:30.  I'm not quite ready to let him go yet and 3 schools might be too much for me to handle!  We are trying different things to keep busy.  We found a toddler music class on Tuesday mornings that seems fun and we found a MOPS group too.  Hopefully soon we can start to fill our schedule with fun morning activities.

We moved officially on Friday night.  We hired an Uber van and brought all 11 suitcases over to our new place.  Then on Saturday, after soccer, (the boys are playing in a rec type league at Caleb's school) the embassy hired a large taxi and we got the 9 airfreight boxes over.  It took 3 trips, 2 hours, and a lot of heavy lifting for Brian.  Most of the boxes were around 40 kilos!!  Luckily the taxi driver was very helpful and an upstairs neighbor also helped.

Our new apartment is nice.  It's really big, but very chopped up!  It shaped like an "E" so I will be getting my steps in each day just walking around here!

Tomorrow our ship stuff comes.  I'm looking forward to having most of our stuff (our furniture comes at the end of the month, if you've counted that's 4 separate times we have moved our stuff!!!)  and making this place home.

Here are some recent pics of our goings on!!  I will post pics of the new place after our stuff is here and I have it more organized :)

Elias on the merry go round, showing me the stick that he's using to get the rings.  I adore this picture, it captures him perfectly!

Caleb's first day of school.  I'm a bad mom and didn't get one of Elias's first day.  Elias had a very bad drop off the first day, so I'll blame that.   Since then though, he goes right in!

Elias playing "soccer" at Caleb's school.  He chooses when to participate.  His group is 3-5 year olds, it's hilarious to watch!  Caleb is with all 1st graders and is very serious about it.

Afternoon snack of pan de chocolat.  Yum!  This place is right across the street from our new apartment, it might be deadly for me!

The 9 airfreight boxes that we moved Saturday.  Poor Brian is working so hard to try to get us settled!
